I'm still unsure how Zenii came to be my next partner in crime but I do believe in fate, and have felt since the moment she came home that choosing her was absolutely the right decision.

Having owned and bred border collies for 20 years, selecting a smaller breed with brains was never going to be easy. With the pandemic causing a major shortage of puppies, my search seemed in vain BUT a glancing comment from a friend, "We never see a bad cockapoo, do we?" made me rethink my options.

Having spent some time researching I was pretty clued up on the kind of breeder I didn't want to purchase from and the puppy would have to come from health tested parents and must have been brought up in the home.

As this little mutt stared back at me from the computer screen I felt an instant connection. I still can't believe how it happened, I telephoned the breeder and arranged to see her the next day - she was a little stunner and came straight home with me. My little, ball of fluff has been such a dream from the moment I picked her up and she has not disappointed me with her ability to learn new skills and tricks and all with oodles of affection. She is very clever and loves everyone.

On 14th August 2021 Zenii was registered with on the Kennel Club's Activity Register as Zenii's From Heaven From Bordertrix. I felt that she was a heavenly gift from my Mum who wanted to give me something to make me laugh again - and they would have loved each other.

Our competition journey together is a mixed bag of

spaniel craziness and poodle preference for perfect

conditions. She loves to work for either toys or

treats and absolutely loves to have a go at anything,

as long as I'm there.

In 2022 she started her hoopers competition career,

won into grade 2 within 6 months, qualified for the

leagues finals, came 3rd in the Websters Championship final and has passed all her HooperStar levels to date.

Her agility career got off to an amazing start with her winning a 3rd place in her very first agility class at Inspire in April 2022. After having a maternity break we made it to grade 3, despite her desire to meet everyone, and now are one win away from grade 4. She will be having another maternal break until at least June 2026 but will be supporting her sidekick, Rioja, in her agility competition debut.

For us agility is all about having fun together, if we get a ribbon, its a bonus and Zenii's happiness is far more important to me. When we have an elimination I can often be seen laughing when we exit the ring because sometimes she prefers her own courses and her hearing becomes selective.

Zenii will be having her second and final litter in March 2026 to the same sire, Baxter.

My puppies will have the best homes, preferably doing agility or something similar but primarily they will be part of the family first.

On 5th January 2023 Zenii gave birth to 6 cockapoos, 3 girls & 3 boys, 3 black & white, 3 red and white. All puppies are much loved family pets and we keep in touch via a group WhatsApp.

Just because Zenii is not a border collie, doesn't mean I won't stick to my ethics of fully health testing.

She has been DNA health screened for the illnesses and conditions that poodles and cocker spaniels suffer from and is clear, as is Baxter.
Not many cockapoo breeders do this and it is VERY IMPORTANT.
